TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Waterline® CI effectively inhibits corrosion of carbon steel in cooling towers when applied as P-free and low-P treatment formulations. When used in P-free formulations,
Waterline CI does not pose a fouling risk with calcium and eliminates the need for phosphate-stabilizing copolymers.
Waterline CI also exhibits compatibility with phosphates and phosphonates, enabling the development of low-P formulations. The product excels in high-hardness cooling waters:
Waterline CI does not cause calcium deposition and does not prompt concerns with overfeeding the inhibitor.
Waterline CI has been shown to achieve a lower and more stable corrosion rate over time as compared to phosphonate treatments used in HVAC systems.
Waterline CI enables water treaters to eliminate the need for stabilizing copolymers typically required to keep phosphorous-based chemistries from fouling cooling water systems with calcium precipitation. This advance maintains a combined low total cost of formulation and in-use performance economics.
The product is derived from renewable feedstocks applied to Rivertop Renewable’s proprietary manufacturing technology.

Test methods and results reported in the
Waterline CI Technical Bulletin, 2.0, demonstrate:
- Superior performance vs. phosphonates in HVAC water
- A more persistent film than phosphate in refinery water
- Better performance in high hardness water
- No to low aggressiveness to galvanized metal
- Excellent stability with oxidizing biocides
- Biostability: does not contribute to additional microbiological growth
