Rivertop Renewables Named Semi-Finalist in Cleantech Open
(June 25, 2009) MISSOULA, Mt. -- Rivertop Renewables announced today that it was selected as one of twelve regional semi-finalists in the Cleantech Open, the world’s leading clean tech business competition. A participant in the Rocky Mountain Region, Rivertop was selected from a wide range of more than 60 promising and innovative clean technology companies.
“Recognition by the Cleantech Open reflects the tremendous potential of our progressive approach to developing sustainable, biodegradable and safe chemicals,” said Jason Kiely, Rivertop’s Director of Marketing.
Rivertop is the only chemical company selected as a semifinalist.
The competition provides Rivertop with multiple opportunities to strengthen the Company’s business plan and network with cleantech leaders and investors through a conference of all participants, symposia with regional experts, and mentoring from Denver-based Cache Creek Partners. Three Rocky Mountain regional winners will be awarded $50,000 in cash and services and the chance to compete for the national prize of $250,000 in cash and services.
“This year we had 65 entries in the Rocky Mountain Region and a record number of entries in California. The Pacific Northwest also generated more entries than we expected,” said Wes Schrader, Contestant Chair from the Cleantech Open. “We congratulate Rivertop on making it past the challenging first round.”
From the past three years, 84% of Cleantech Open Alumni are still viable businesses and have secured more than $125 million in funding.
Cleantech Open (cleantechopen.com) is an organization of leading entrepreneurs, academics, investors and companies, working together to accelerate the development of clean technology startups.
The Cleantech Open was founded in California in 2005 to encourage the development of clean technology companies that foster a healthy natural environment — companies that provide environmental benefits in the areas of renewable energy, energy efficiency, pollution reduction and resource protection, and conservation. The competition serves as a platform to educate the public, as well as the participants, about the environmental challenges we face and new technologies that can provide solutions to those challenges. This is the first year the competition has been expanded beyond California to cleantech start-ups in the Pacific Northwest and the Rocky Mountain Regions.
