Cleaning Products 2011, October 5-7 in Washington, DC

  • Rivertop Director of R&D, Dr. Tyler N. Smith, unveiled data revealing that salts of glucaric acid can be formulated to create a new builder for the automatic dishwashing detergent market. Dr. Smith demonstrated that formulated glucarate can serve as cost-effective, high performance calcium sequestering agents and corrosion inhibitors in this higher pH application. The presentation reported on lab tests revealing that formulated glucarate shows comparable binding capacity as phosphate on both a weight and a molar basis at pH 11. Dr. Smith also shared photographic evidence that glucarate-based builders prevent spotting to a degree comparable to phosphate when layered on top of a leading auto-dish detergent and when included in a basic ADW formulation. BIO World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioprocessing, May 8-11 in Toronto

  • Rivertop spoke on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at this seminal industry event. Leadership from Rivertop and other presenters were charged with revealing "Platform Biochemicals: Industrial Need and Future Trends." As described by organizers from the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), "Biotechnological platform chemicals have a disruptive impact on the chemical industry by increasing the use of biorenewable carbon sources significantly and growing the share of biobased products. According to the USDA the total share of biobased chemicals is expected to expand from about 13% today to up to 28% till 2025 with the highest growth rates in the business segments of commodities and polymers. This panel will discuss current industrial needs and future trends in biotechnological precursor production, and the drivers behind that feedstock and technology change in chemical industries."
